5 ‘Free’ Ways to Promote Your Child Care Business

5 ‘Free’ Ways to Promote Your Child Care Business

I know it’s not easy to use paid advertisement when starting your own child care business or even when trying to fill a spot or two within your daycare. That’s why I put together this list of free advertisement to use when on a very tight budget. Hopefully, this list will help you get you on your way in strengthening your child care business.

1. Free Website

There are many options out there for creating a free website ones such as WordPress.com. However, they can be somewhat limited to suit your needs. But, just enough to get you by on advertising your child care business for free. You can also check out other website platforms such as Weebly.com. But, if you happen to have a small budget I would recommend checking out the two website packages we have to offer here at HelloDaycare.

2. Find Free Directories

There are plenty of free directories out there where you can advertise your child care business. The first one I would suggest is Yelp as I have had many inquiries from Yelp during my 7 1/2 years working in child care. Other free directories are Yellow Pages, Care.com, and Google Places or better known as Google My Business. You can even find directories within your city or your county offering you to advertise your business as a referral. You just got to do a thorough search online to find these businesses.

3. Advertise on CraigsList

I know I’ve heard negative things about CraigsList but I have filled a couple of spots by advertising here. There is a section called child care where you can advertise your business for free. And it works. Just be cautious of what information you put out there and with any inquiries you get about openings at your child care facility.

4. Word of Mouth

Word of mouth can be the best form of free advertisement and best done by building a great reputation within your community. Talk with your local churches, preschools, and realtors in the area. Find out if they have a referral list and see if you can be added on it. A lot of local businesses would be happy to have your information to pass along to potential clients in the area. And maybe you could do the same for them.

5. Social Media

If I had to pick a social media platform for free advertisement it would be Facebook and Instagram. Share pictures of your child care, share announcements like an open house. And then hit it up with some local hashtags. Ask friends and families to share your posts in addition to liking or commenting on it.

What are some forms of free advertisement you use for your child care business?

Interestingly enough, I'm a home daycare provider at Shadow Oaks Daycare in Thousand Oaks, California. Before Shadow Oaks Daycare, I worked at a promotional advertising company in the advertising specialty industry as a System Analyst and Cost Accountant. On my spare time I like to create websites using WordPress.
